Oklahoma Divorce How to: Discovery Document Production

I will start by saying that no one likes to answer discovery. I certainly would rather spend my time doing something else. However, it is a legitimate procedure and one that must be properly handled.

There is a very specific way that I will need you to provide the documents to me. Please follow these instructions very carefully. If you follow these steps exactly, it will save me a lot of time organizing your responses, saving you money because you won’t be paying me to spend hours organizing the information.

Step 1:

  • Gather all of the requested documents.
  • Save all documents in .pdf format. 
  • Save photos in .png or .jpeg format.
  • Save recordings in Wave file (.wav) or MPEG Layer-3 file (.mp3) format for audio and Audio Video Interleave file (.avi) or Windows Media Video file (.wmv) format for video.

Step 2:

  • Create and name an electronic file folder for each Request for Production.
  • For Response to Request for Production No 1, name the electronic file folder “RFP #1.”

NOTE “RFP” is an abbreviation for Request for Production.

  • For Response to Request for Production No 2, name the electronic file folder “RFP #2.”
  • For Response to Request for Production No 3, name the electronic file folder “RFP #3.”
  • Do the same thing for each request.

Step 3:

  • Save the individual documents into the folder. In other words, to respond to Request for Production No 1, create a file folder entitled “RFP # 1.” Then, you save all of the documents that correspond to that request in that folder.

Step 4:

Load the file folders to Google Drive, DropBox, etc., and then send me the link.

SUMMARY:

  • Please carefully follow the instructions above exactly as requested.
  • Please DO NOT email the documents to me as individual files spread across multiple emails.
  • Please save the individual files into electronic file folders as outlined in Step 3. Then, please send me ONE EMAIL ONLY with a link to where you have uploaded the file folders.
